Chocolate City Group recently welcomed the Ambassador of Sweden to Nigeria, Her Excellency Anna Westerholm, to its Lagos office as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen creative, cultural, and digital partnerships between Sweden and Nigeria.
The ambassador, accompanied by members of her delegation, was received by Chocolate City Group CEO Abuchi Peter Ugwu, Executive Vice President of Chocolate City Music Aibee Abidoye, and members of the leadership team. Discussions focused on the rapidly evolving global music ecosystem, talent development, digital optimization, and opportunities for deeper collaboration between Nordic and African creative industries.
Conversations highlighted Nigeria’s position as a global music powerhouse and Sweden’s long-standing reputation as a hub for music innovation and hitmaking. Both parties explored opportunities across digital platforms, live experiences, touring infrastructure, and creative exchange, with shared interest in democratizing access to music education and fostering cross-cultural collaboration.
There was strong alignment on connecting African artists, producers, and songwriters with Sweden’s creative communities, while also strengthening digital infrastructure and revenue optimization across platforms. Live experiences and touring synergies were identified as key areas for future collaboration, reflecting the natural synergy between the Nigerian and European markets.
These discussions complement the Chocolate City Group’s expanding ecosystem, which includes the upcoming launch of a creative hub in Jos and the Founders Fund, initiatives designed to support emerging talent and creative entrepreneurship across Nigeria.
Commenting on the engagement, Aibee Abidoye noted that Sweden’s interest in African music presents strong potential for impactful collaborations and the development of local creative infrastructure.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to exploring partnerships that drive sustainable growth, innovation, and value across the global music ecosystem.
